I’m not sure where you live but if you live in Canada call St. John’s Ambulance. They have great kits and I think they’re less than $100.

Most auto parts, home improvement or military surplus store will carry one. Red Cross website also carries them.

if you are in the uk aldi are doing a fab one just now. its £2.99 and i just bought one. it has scissors, tweezers, gauze plasters bandages allsorts of stuff. an absolute bargain.

I would definitely make your own – that way you can personalize it. The video series in the source link shows you all the stuff to put in a first aid kit. Great gift idea!

I would also say the red cross website as you know any profit will be spent in a decent way, Either that or make up one of your own ,mine is in a plastic kitchen tub.
you will need wipes, plasters, gauze, tweezers, gloves(if any one else needs treatment) thermometer, safety pins, sterile dressings, bandages, tape. I can’t think of anything else off the top of my head.

I, too, would make your own. Get a “Tupperware” box and stock it with what you think he might need the most. Favourite has got to be a box of plasters, some antiseptic, cotton wool, scissors and a few dressings & bandages. Look at the contents of the ready-made ones which are available everywhere and tweak what you put together to suit. You could for instance include some newly-bought painkillers, which you’ll never get in a ready-made kit as they’re considered medicines.
All first-aid kits should be tailored to meet the circumstances in which they’re likely to be needed. You’re not looking at a fix-all full kit with which he can rush out and administer first-aid to someone, just something to deal with those knocks, cuts and scrapes we all get around the home.
That’s a good, practical idea you’ve had there.
