I think Reiki is an amazing compliment to any therapy, and in many cases can be applied as the sole treatment.
However, if someone is bleeding, they need to have pressure applied, and the wound dealt with physically first. Reiki could then be applied to help keep them calm and lessen the pain. But just Reiki-ing a severe wound, or a break, or someone choking is NOT going to cut it.
Now if someone just skinned their knee, or stubbed their toe, then certainly Reiki will be a great stand-alone treatment. But that doesn’t mean you don’t clean the cut and put a bandaid on it to keep it clean as soon as you can.
I would NEVER say that Reiki can REPLACE First Aid. They complement each other beautifully – and Reiki is always useful in stressful situations, or in situations related to health. Reiki is very helpful to have in one’s toolbox of methods to use in times of need. But as another poster said, if I saw someone try to Reiki a person that needed physical First Aid, I would also likely punch them for being stupid!

reiki certainly can help first aid efforts, by giving strength to the patient/victim to bear pain, wisdom to co-operate and calm down if in panic, and thereby enhance the effect of first aid considerably! If the subject has trust and a lot of faith, yes, Reiki can by itself provide first aid: the healer should be a well practised, well tuned person, too! Reiki by itself, is a great power, force, without doubt!

I have a general knowledge of reiki… and if I saw someone trying to use it in place of administering first aid, I would probably punch them for being an idiot.
Hollisitic medicine is great and works fine sometimes sure, but in serious situations it is a HUGE risk to take. If I see you chasing ambulances and waving your hands on chakras of gunshot victims me and you are going to have a little chat.
lol

I am a Reiki Master and teacher. It is not primarily meant as first aid. it is laying on of hands and psyche healing. It channels the healing power of Spirit to the person needingthe healing energy. It comes through the Reiki healer and not from them.
