I Need An Attention Getting Strategy For A Speech To Promote People To Take A Cpr Course To Help Save Lives?
I cannot use powerpoint for this speech, so my ability to use a video or image would be hard. I tried to think up a scenario or something along those lines that would bring to the importance of CPR training and encourage the audience to take a CPR course. Thanks for your help.

I’d use a scenario. Something like:
“You’re sitting down to dinner to celebrate your fathers 60th birthday. Just as the family finishes singing the mandatory ‘happy birthday’ song- he gasps, tries to stand up and collapses to the floor… Do you know what to do?”
Should get everyones attention and lead you into your speech pretty seamlessly.

You: About 10% of Americans will experience some form of heart attack or cardiac emergency this year.
(Have 10% of your class stand up.)
You: These can be your friends, family, co-workers, or just strangers nearby you. It will take EMS about (fill in the blank- in our city its 8.5 ) minutes for paramedics to arrive, but the brain will die after 10 minutes with no oxygen.
You: Their best chance for survival is someone nearby who can start CPR or apply an AED quickly. Look at the people around each of the victims- statistically, none of them knows how to do CPR and probably cannot help more than calling CPR- if they even recognize that there is a problem.
You: Our goal is to get enough people trained that there is more likely to be someone nearby if you or a loved one ever needs this help…
and go into your program
