What Can You Teach As Part Of A First Aid For First Graders Class?

I have to do a community service project for class and I need to teach first aid to first graders. Unfortunatly I am unsure as to what I can teach that will be at thier level of understanding.

    Treatment for shock.
Ask then if they’ve ever felt dizzy?
Show them how to help a person by having them lay down and raise the persons feet with their packs.
Bleeding, Show them how to put preasure on the wound to stop the blood flow like stopping a hole in a hose.
Teach them 911 is for EMERGENCIES ONLY and how to dail it.

of course you want to teach them the basics of what to do in an emergency: get help, an adult.
    Also, don’t move someone.
Most of the situations they would have to help in are when they are playing with friends. So create scenarios for them. You and your friend are playing away from adult. Your friend all of a sudden falls down an starts shaking what do you do? They need to run and get an adult.
Their friend hurts an arm when they fall off a bike, what do they do? Hurts a leg and can’t walk?
    Friend falls in a pool?
They or a friend is bitten by a snake? (it may be very important they pay attention to the color and markings)
What do they do if they are at home and a parent gets hurt? Call 911, follow the directions of the dispatcher.
I would also make sure they know never to treat an injured animal since it my bite. They should tell a parent.

I’ve never seen the use of descriptive terminology used in this fashion before. I have definitely learned much from the reading and the thought provoking ideas used in this article.
