You can learn CPR and First Aid in …
Comment posted What Would Be The Fastest/cheapest Way To Get My Basic First Aid And Cpr In Toronto? by Dr. G.
You can learn CPR and First Aid in four hours with the course called “Family and Friends”. If U need to learn about Automatic External Defibrillators (AED), your should take the “Heartsaver / AED / First Aid” course (5.5 hours).
Both curses are.given by the American Heart Association Authorized Course Providers.
You can locate a curse near you @ the AHA´s ECC Class Connector: http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.j…
AHA courses may not be the cheapest, but they are the best. With AHA courses you can obtain a two year certification card recognized worldwide.
Other option, with Canadian Red Cross’s Authorized Providers, such as: http://www.torontocpr.com/

- do you need it done thru American Heart Assoc or other? ask your manager for advice. the community college, Am Red Cross, ambulance service, fire department, etc will have classes but not necessarily on your schedule.
- google the american red cross and
the american heart association
Those are two agencies that certify people in CPR
you also might want to go check some of the bulletin boards at your local hospitals and clinics which will have that information
Also the local EMS agency
Try Toronto EMS or Fire Department in google search
Google does amazing things - I’ve used several online courses and most seem ok.
I’ve had no problems with my employer accepting the online CPR certificate.
I used www.NationalCPRCertification.com they state they have been internationally accredit.
There are other online CPR classes but this is the one I used.
Also check out this review of classes:http://onlinecpr.brighterplanet.org/ - Because we are in Canada, we have to follow the Canadian standards and stick with our own organizations… so the American Red Cross probably won’t work.
If you know ANY lifeguards with their Lifesaving Society Instructor certification, they can teach you this course in a couple of hours… if that. Basic First Aid and CPR-A is the most basic first aid course offered. You should also be able to go to your local pool or recreation centre and ask for a course.
If you are looking for other courses or more advanced first aid courses, check out “Take a Course” on the Lifesaving Society’s website (www.lifesavingsociety.com) to see what is available.
In the Toronto area, I can almost guarantee that first aid courses (of most levels) are being run at least weekly.
Happy First Aiding!

- Can You Be Suide Or Charged For Using First Aid?
no you can not be sued if you are rendering aid to someone that is injured (the burning car). there is a law called the good samaritan law that in laymans terms says if you render aid to someone and that person can not sue you for aiding them. good luck - Can You Be Suide Or Charged For Using First Aid?
if you are First Aid certified you can’t be sued. There’s something called a Good Samartian Law that protects people, the important thing to remember is not to anything you’re not qualified to do and if the person is conscieous ask if you can help them first. - Can You Be Suide Or Charged For Using First Aid?
There are many laws protecting a bystander giving first aid. If there are no trained professionals around, and they won’t get there in time, then yes by all means save the person. I would rather not be able to walk than die. If you want a better answer, I suggest talking to an ambulance administrator. I think if someone tried to sue you in this case, the judge would probably throw it out. Be sure to ask about a good samaritan law - Can You Be Suide Or Charged For Using First Aid?
People can (and will!) sue for just about any excuse- including some that are flat-out stupid.
But yes, there is a good-Samaritan law out there to help protect against that particular kind of litigation. - Can You Be Suide Or Charged For Using First Aid?
Yes, you can be sued for providing aid to a person that winds up injured because of your good efforts if you weren’t properly trained.
There are good samaritan laws to protect people who are only trying to help, but you have to read them. Sometimes in some instances they only protect First response physicians and emergency crews, and not the everyman.
